I found a beautiful fabric panel with the colors of a sunrise and began to cut it up and put it back together again with some of my own fabrics from my stash. I chose a wonderful picture of the sunrise from my yard looking into the Sapphire Mountains and printed it out on silk fabric. I painted the white borders of it to match the colors in the quilt and layered it over a segment of the original panel fabric. I quilted it rather heavily and then added many stone and horn beads in earthy colors. I felt I had really captured the essence of the sunrise and the feelings it inspires when you see it glowing on the horizon and through the trees.
